We Appreciate Your Help

Crandall Associates was founded in 1973.  Take a look at our competitors; I think you would be hard pressed to find a search firm specializing in the recruitment of direct marketers (and certainly digital marketers, as that is a more recently developed marketing channel!) that has been around half as long.  Although I’m sure other search firms claim to have an “incomparable” network of contacts, because we have been in business for over 40 years, we have a brand recognition few others can claim.  We have candidates who over time have become clients…and clients who over time have utilized us in their own job search.  We have a number of families with 2 generations registered with us!

So when we receive a search assignment from a client, we are able to “hit the ground running”.  We don’t have to hit job boards, or LinkedIn, to identify prospects (though we utilize myriad sources to identify new talent).  The first thing we do is reach out to people we know…either to identify their own level of interest, or to ask for a referral.  We have found over & over again that “good people know good people”.  It makes sense.  The “A” students tend to hang around together in high school.  The “A” candidates tend to feed off each other’s energy, and bring out the best in each other.

With that in mind, when we receive a search that presents a particular challenge, we sometimes offer a Finder’s Fee.  We offer a cash reward if someone introduces us to the candidate that is ultimately hired by our client.  Last week, we paid out literally thousands of dollars in finder’s fees.  In one case, 2 people referred the same person (almost simultaneously) – and rather than split hairs, and alienate the second person to provide the referral, we actually paid out 2 finder’s fees for the same candidate.  Did that hurt just a bit?  Yes.  But the goodwill we have established among the members of our network has no price!  These are folks that took a little time from their busy day to see if there is a way that they can help us (and our client, and their professional colleague).  Our goodwill is our brand.  I’m not about to quibble about whose email I received first.

In fact, nothing would please me more than for Crandall Associates to pay a record number of Finder’s Fees in 2017.  Because that will mean we are all winning!
